WOMEN: What Do you REALLY want?

“Everything!...of course.” might be the glib answer, but at what COST?

Where is the joy? Seems most women today carry an overwhelming amount
of stress that manifests into migraines, stiff necks, back aches, insomnia, poor digestion, overweight and low self-esteem, just to name a few symptoms.

What went wrong?

Looking back, the sixties pushed us into casual sex by dispensing birth control pills and legal abortions; the seventies pushed us into clawing up the corporate ladder; we married later (if at all), delayed having children (or adopted), and defined ourselves as SuperWomen eager to prove we can have and do “everything”.

What did men give us?...The trillion-dollar fast, fatty, salty, unhealthy, processed foods industry (that liberated us women from the kitchen) and its companion: medication to mask the distress symptoms.

“Go Girl!” feels exhausting, we need a wee bit of, “Go rest, Girl”.

The great American humourist, Mark Twain, said: “If I had known I would live this long, I would’ve taken better care of myself!”  Well, we are living longer, and we need to take better care of ourselves.

Lisa Powers, a successful New York advertising photographer, recently relocated herself, her four cats, all her photo equipment and household furnishings to Christchurch and arrived exhausted!...(but, no time to rest)…there was the Herculean task of setting everything up again!

She joined a gym and hated it. Wasted money. Seldom went. She suffered from chronic back pain, insomnia and knee injuries…and had severe time constraints. She felt tired and unhealthy. Confronting this, she realised that if she didn’t change her life, she would collapse. When she found the POWER PLATE machine, she was hooked.

The vibrations on the machine platform offer the same benefits as an hour-long workout in a sweaty gym, in just 15-minutes.

“It burns fat, tones the whole body, increases muscle strength, revs up the metabolism, increases blood circulation…and, you feel GREAT!” explains Lisa, “The body might respond to it the way laughter makes us feel better…we “vibrate” when we laugh!”

She soon saw and felt the benefits, purchased three machines and launched “ChillSpace, Works for Women” from her stunning home high up in the Cashmere Hills.

“I wanted a sanctuary for women.” she says, “I created ChillSpace as a place where I would enjoy going myself. Women can leave their stress with their shoes at the door, and leave feeling GOOD!"

ChillSpace is open daily except Sundays, 7am till 7pm.
